I was born in the UK and graduated with a Politics BA from Hull University. I then joined the Metropolitan Police and enjoyed ten years serving in London, working primarily in central London, first as a Home Beat Officer and then running a Divisional Intelligence and Information Unit (DIIU). I then moved to Vienna where I worked for ORF (Blue Danube Radio) and ITN (Channel Four Daily) as a News Editor/Broadcaster/Stringer covering first the collapse of the Berlin Wall and then the conflicts in Slovenia, Croatia and BiH, resulting from the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. I was then offered the chance to work in the Gulf and moved to Bahrain, where I worked for the Ministry of Information and Dow Jones Telerate to establish the annual Gulf Economic Forum Conference and Seminars. In 1998 I returned to Europe to work for the European Commission DG Enterprise to develop a pilot project for the support of Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights targeted at the EU Research Community & SME's. This project was the IPR-Helpdesk and since 2004 I have managed a number of projects broadly related to Technology Transfer & Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights issues for the EC, WIPO, USPTO, SIPO and others. Currently I am working as a Consultant dealing with Knowledge Management issues, ISO 9001 Quality Assurance issues, IIP Asset Management support, IIP Training & Enforcement issues.
